Kopiko 78 C Latte – Too Strong, Too Bold, Too Sweet

I can’t help but compare Kopiko 78 degrees with Nescafe Smoovlatte. First, they’re both lattes. Second, they look almost identical — bottle, colors, design. The only outright difference I could find at first is the price.

Nescafe Smoovlatte costs P37.50 while Kopiko 78 C, only P16.50. That’s huge. Kopiko’s “best latte ever” is less than half the price of its twinny from another manufacturer mother. Is it a good sign for us consumers?

I’m not a coffee lover but I did enjoy Nescafe Smoovlatte. The first time I tried it, it felt like liquid silk — creamy, smooth, and sweetened just right.

But when I tried Kopiko 78, I got a one-two punch. The coffee flavor charged at my palate like it had a score to settle. The sweetness followed through and I was stunned at first gulp. Too strong. Too sweet. Too much. The after taste — bitter and metallic — lingered on my tongue long after I’d finished the bottle. Blah!

But that’s just me. Someone who finds Nescafe Smoovlatte too mild or someone who likes their coffee bold and strong might prefer Kopiko 78.

I’m not a coffee expert. For all I know lattes are supposed to taste that way. But in case I’ll need a quick caffeine buzz and it boils down to these two, I’d picked Nescafe Smoovlatte without hesitation. Nevermind the P21-difference.

I was looking for a review and found this. I still tried it out anyway (for science) and it did taste weird, reminding me kind of of Red Bull Barako.

For science? That sounds interesting. I’ve never tried Red Bull Barako and probably, never will now.lol But if you’re looking for another ready to drink coffee, Smoovlatte tastes yummy. Thanks, Carlo!

I know what you mean. The first time I tried Kopiko 78, (which will also be most likely the last) it was too strong for me, too. I had to drink a lot of water afterwards just to help my body flush it out as fast as possible. Maybe Kopiko should lighten up their formula a little. The product could be delicious if only they’d tone it down a bit.

Well, to each his own. I liked it… hehehe. I just drank this a moment ago and wondered what I’ll find online and yours popped out at the first page! Great SEO, hehehe.

My thoughts… I think the new released products of 78c are really stronger. It felt so much different. The first time I tried it, yes I felt the effect of mentally awake and not feeling drowsy but now, it’s much more different. I can feel my heart beat and sense my heart rates going fast and the ‘anxiety feel’ effect of that when you take meth, not the full effect though but a fragment of it maybe. I know the feeling cause I’ve tried but never was addicted on it. But yeah, I’m actually typing this right now describing what I am feeling. Hope the company haven’t mixed something on it just like rumors about c*ke having c*caine. LOLZ! ^_^ .v..

Hi Tony. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Yeah, it’s just too strong, isn’t it? I’m glad I’m not the only one who think it is. I just don’t trust myself when it comes to coffee because I’m not really much of a coffee drinker. If only they’d pull back the strength a bit, it could be good.

I got a free bottle of this a couple of days ago.
Today, I gave it a try. Actually I’ve been drinking that 1 bottle since I opened it this morning and didn’t even finish it yet.
The first time I tasted it, I find it quite bitter, and the taste lingers in my mouth, even after drinking plenty of water. I just sip a small amount every now and then, followed by plenty of water.. But as I drank about two-thirds of this coffee drink (and I stopped drinking it), I felt a weird sensation. I don’t feel sleepy but my head is so heavy, like it will burst any moment. I started to palpitate as well and it feels my breath is in my throat or somewhere.. 🙁 I’m a coffee drinker but I will not recommend it. I think the caffeine is just too much. But if ever you’re still curious about it, then give it a try but ONE IS ENOUGH. Don’t gamble your life with this.. I think I won’t be able to sleep this evening. 🙁 And I need to drink a lot of water again to flush this out of my system. .

Hi Micah. Thanks for sharing. I’m not against Kopiko 78 or anything but I do agree with you. It’s a bit strong. Yes, good idea with drinking lots of water. Hope you’re feeling better by now.

As someone who’s used to drinking grande-sized brewed black coffee every day, I find Kopiko 78 too sweet and too mild…or maybe that’s psychological cause it’s not as bitter as what I’m used to? Its taste reminds me of coffee milk tea.

Hi.. im a addict to it I think. Ive been drinking Kopiko 78 for about a couple of months already and helps me lose some fat and stay alert every morning and im a medtech so im suppose to be alert everymorning. I felt great. Maybe you should try to test your acidity first in your urine cause if you felt like burning sensation or over energize cause I think you already stored much acidity before drinking it. I suggest drinking it with a banana would be much better. But Great Review. Thank you.

Hi Chiro. I hope you’re feeling better by now. Yes lots of water would help. I think Kopiko 78 is really for those who drink strong coffee regularly. But for us who aren’t that used to coffee, Kopiko 78 is too strong.
