Aldub. Say this couple nickname and you’ll get impish smiles of kilig or looks of intrigue. This unexpected onscreen loveteam is making waves. Their popularity is through the roof, rounding up a tremendous following that spans across “mga kapatid”, “mga kapuso”, and “mga kapamilya.”

And apparently, McDo isn’t blind or deaf to it. Aldub now stars in their latest commercial that features the New Chicken Fillet Ala King. What a smart, smart move! I wonder if Jollibee ever thought of that.

We all know McDo is gifted when it comes to TVCs that speak to the heart. Remember, “Karen, po” who melted our hearts. How about the funny tech-savvy lolos who are pros at wielding a selfie stick?

This time they did it again. Using Aldub’s kilig factor as leverage, McDo’s Chicken Fillet ala King TVC is a feel-good, endorphin-boosting commercial. It’s cute. It’s funny. It’s catchy. I can’t get the song out of my head.

Itanong mo sa akin kung sino aking mahal

Itanong mo sa akin sagot ko’y di magtatagal

Ikaw ang aking mahal
I bet even if McDo’s Chicken Fillet ala King tasted like glue, Aldub fans would still give it a try. But thankfully it’s not. The chicken fillet, although I wish it could be bigger, is crunchy and zingy. Resembling a light yellow puree flecked with bits of herbs and carrots,  the sauce that makes it “ala king” is creamy and tasty, complementing the fillet’s slight spiciness.

Overall, McDo’s Chicken Fillet ala King is okay. I’m not going to crave for it any time soon, but it’s a nice option if you want rice and you’re tired of “just fried chicken.”
